About the role: We are seeking an experienced Drug & Alcohol - Counsellor for a Part-Time position working Monday to Thursday supporting programs at our Nerang service, with flexibility to backfill appointments at other sites within South Brisbane. The rostered hours of this position are of 8:54am - 5:00 pm. The Counsellor, Alcohol & Other Drugs effectively delivers and positively promotes the Alcohol & Other Drugs Program to referred clients through the provision of a biopsychosocial assessment, group and individual relapse prevention counselling, and case management. The counsellors also deliver assessments, education and brief intervention sessions to clients referred under the Police and Court Diversion program. Responsibilities: Effectively deliver the Police and Court Diversion (PCD) Program, including client assessment, Individual Care Plan development, and brief education interventions. Maintain accurate client and program data in accordance with Anglicare policies and procedures. Provide Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) counselling using evidence-based intervention techniques and service guidelines. Ensure client rights, privacy, and confidentiality are respected and protected in all service delivery. Participate in professional development activities to enhance clinical practice knowledge and expertise. Collaborate in program planning, review, evaluation, and reporting activities to ensure relevance and effectiveness. Contribute to the development and maintenance of contemporary clinical practice knowledge. Engage in performance reviews, implement development plans, and participate in quality control and accreditation activities. Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements Degree in Social Work, Psychology or similar (this is an essential requirement of the role) Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health (desired) Current National Police Check Current Blue Card Current Queensland Driver Licence Eligible for membership with APS, AASW, ACA or other relevant professional body and evidence of recent practice Ability to work a rotating roster Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:54am - 8:30 pm and at various sites within the region as required. About You Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of drug and alcohol assessment, case management, intervention strategies, and counselling within program frameworks. Proficient in establishing effective relationships through exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Comprehensive understanding of professional, ethical, and legal standards governing the treatment and clinical management of substance misuse.
