Job Description Job Description Material Expediter Job Summary The Material Expediter is responsible for coordinating the timely dispatch, return, and logistical rotation of watercraft and related equipment in support of U.S. Navy operational readiness. This role ensures that equipment usage is evenly distributed, properly maintained, and aligned with the directives of the unit’s Equipment Officer. The Expediter acts as the central point of contact for tracking and scheduling watercraft, ensuring full compliance with Navy procedures and maintaining accurate records for inspections, dispatches, and incidents. Material Expediter Responsibilities Brief watercraft operators on current weather conditions, route planning, and emergency procedures prior to dispatch. Maintain updated status boards, assignment sheets, and scheduling documentation for all watercraft and equipment. Manage physical control and issuance of watercraft keys to ensure secure access. Ensure accurate and complete recordkeeping of operational forms including: Sailing Lists Boat Reports Operators Inspection Guides Trouble Reports DD Form 518 (Accident Identification Card) SF91 (Accident Investigation Form) Verify completion and documentation of all pre- and post-operation preventative maintenance checks. Utilize the DPAS software system to accurately log unit issue and warehouse transfer activities that match physical movements of equipment. Actively rotate watercraft based on demand to promote balanced equipment usage and prolong operational life. Contact supported units weekly to schedule timely return of craft for routine Preventative Maintenance Services (PMS). Use the EODESU ONE Portal for submitting and managing support requests, dispatching, and tracking of equipment assets. Provide consistent and professional customer service to internal users and external stakeholders involved in scheduling and operations. Material Expediter Position Requirements Prior experience in logistics, material control, or dispatch coordination in a military, maritime, or maintenance operations setting is strongly preferred. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Familiarity with Navy equipment tracking processes and documentation practices. Experience using logistics and dispatch software, particularly DPAS (Defense Property Accountability System). Proficient in standard office applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and email. Knowledge of U.S. Navy Preventative Maintenance Service (PMS) practices and EODESU processes is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to brief operators and coordinate across departments. Strong interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with military personnel, contractors, and civilian staff. Ability to work 40 hours per week onsite at EODESU ONE. Must be able to obtain and maintain any required base access or security clearance. Must clearly identify as a contractor in all communications with government personnel.
