Job Description Job Description Job Title: Machinist Job Description Operate computer and manually controlled machines to fabricate materials, load and cycle parts, run production lots, detect malfunctions in machine operations, and communicate with co-workers regarding production runs. This position operates on Day Shift (6am - 2:30pm) or Swing Shift (2:15pm - 10:45pm). Responsibilities Work on lathes such as Haas TL-2 and manual lathes. Operate, monitor, and complete production jobs on CNC Mills, checking parts to print, making offset changes, and producing quality parts. Work on mills such as Haas or Brother verticals. Set up and operate CNC machines, including loading programs and setting/adjusting work/tool offsets. Utilize Haas controls to input G & M code and calculate feeds and speeds. Set up, select tools, and operate parts with standard or custom specifications. Study blueprints, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces. Complete set-ups on multiple CNC Vertical Mills. Run production lots and communicate with co-workers to maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment. Prove out and optimize programs and fixturing for repeat parts. Troubleshoot and operate across multiple machines as needed. Detect malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools. Read prints and inspect parts for conformance, typically /- .005 tolerance. Check parts using basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges. Verify conformance of finished workpieces as specified. Follow established safety protocols including required usage of PPE. Keep work area clean and organized. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills 3 years in a metal manufacturing environment with extensive experience in precision lathe and mill setup and operation. Experience with all manual inspection equipment and FAI processes. Capability of reading drawings and making offset changes independently. Extensive machine shop/metal working skills and grasp of fundamentals. Knowledge of using controls for Haas. Ability to set up CNC machine loading programs, tools, fixtures, and setting tool offsets. Ability to read and understand machine codes, set up own jobs, and run first parts. Ability to set up machining operations per setup sheets and adjust programs as needed. Mastercam/G&M code experience a strong plus. Knowledge of using and interpreting results from various measuring tools. Excellent blueprint reading skills. Good math skills including trigonometry and the ability to work with decimals. Comfortable working with close tolerances (thousandths) and able to read and interpret engineered drawings in decimal and fractional inch units. Ability to accurately inspect parts for conformance using basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges. Additional Skills & Qualifications Manual machining is preferred but not required. Trade school training and lean manufacturing environment experience a plus. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Strong attention to detail. Dependability, honesty, integrity, a positive and proactive attitude. Ability to use time productively, working with minimal supervision both individually and as part of a team. Ability to work overtime as required. Why Work Here? Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $56160.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
