Facility Attendant -PT Salary $15.03 Hourly Location Cocoa, FL Job Type Part-time Job Number 25-055 Department Leisure Services Opening Date 03/11/2025 Closing Date Continuous Description Benefits Questions JOB DESCRIPTION JOB SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Leisure Services Manager, provides attendant services for City facilities. The Facilities Attendant monitors scheduled programs and performs cleaning and maintenance of the facilities, i.e., Riverfront Park, Taylor Park, Porcher House and the Civic Center. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Receives and helps general public by answering inquiries and giving out routine information. Opens and closes facility as required by schedule of events, ensures that buildings are locked and secure at the end of each day, does a walk-through of all buildings, turns off lights, makes sure all doors and windows are locked and buildings are secure, and records in daily log book. Completes work orders for functions, sets up and tears down tables and chairs in rooms as required by the specific function taking place. Cleans parking lot and property of all trash, checks restrooms and replenishes toilet tissue, paper towels, soap, etc., and cleans bathrooms as needed. Reports all damage, situations, or vandalism, both verbally, and on forms provided and in daily log book. Sets-ups and cleans at events as needed including moving and lifting of tables and chairs and well as using cleaning supplies. Monitors and replenishes cleaning facilities for special events as needed and/or assists in other City facilities as required. The majority of position duties are required to be performed on-site. Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared or undeclared emergency. Performs other related job duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of the City of Cocoa as it pertains to the performance of the essential duties of Facility Attendant and principles and practices of facility maintenance. Knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of the organization of the department and of related departments and agencies. Knowledge of any occupational hazards and adheres to any safety precautions inherent in performing the essential functions of the work. Knowledge of terminology and related professional languages used within the department as such pertains to work responsibilities. Skill in identifying or assisting in identification of alternative solutions to issues or situations. Ability to maintain cooperative and effective relationships with intra- and interdepartmental personnel, as well as any external entities with whom the position interacts. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy in performing duties and responsibilities. Ability to exercise immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility. Ability to complete assigned work within established deadlines in accordance with directives, policies, standards, and prescribed procedures. Ability to anticipate work to be accomplished, and initiate appropriate and acceptable action for the completion of work with minimum supervision and instruction Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public and maintain composure in difficult and/or stressful situations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED certificate; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Special Qualifications: For positions requiring the operation of City vehicles, must possess a valid current Florida driver's license, or be able to acquire one within 45 days of hire. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is generally medium and may require exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching on narrow, or slippery surfaces. Feeling: Ability to perceive attributes of objects by touch. Dexterity: Primarily with fingers, as in picking, pinching, or typing. Grasping: Applying pressure with the whole hand. Handling: Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand. Hearing: Ability to hear and understand at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Kneeling: Ability to bend legs at the knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Lifting: Ability to frequently lift and move objects. Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward. Reaching: Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Speaking / Talking: Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and concisely through speech. Standing: Ability to stand for sustained periods of time. Stooping: Ability to frequently bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Visual Acuity: To determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures. Walking: Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or to move from one work site to another. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires the ability to be sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
