Labourer (Parks and Gardens) Location - Cannonvale Permanent / Full Time $66,472 to $67,292 per annum The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville. The Whitsunday region offers a dynamic environment and is perfectly placed to live, work, play and invest. Your Opportunity The Whitsunday Regional Council is currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Parks and Gardens Labourer to join our team. This role involves a range of labouring tasks related to the construction, establishment, and maintenance of parks and gardens infrastructure across the beautiful Whitsunday region. Our offer to you: Work life balance with a 9 day fortnight Save more with our salary sacrifice scheme Locality Allowance Health and Wellbeing Benefits Key Responsibilities: Undertake general labouring duties including vegetation control, maintenance, litter control, and other parks and gardens activities. Operate small plant and equipment safely and in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines. Collaborate with Leading Hands, Managers, and Council staff to complete allocated tasks efficiently. Implement traffic management requirements, including traffic control schemes and plans in line with current regulations. Maintain and operate Council vehicles, plant, and equipment in accordance with safety and operational standards. Complete daily timesheets, pre-start checks, and maintain records as required. Report any issues that may affect operations, safety, or staff welfare to supervisors or managers. Be available to work at various locations throughout the region as required. Perform other duties consistent with your skills, training, and experience as directed. Essential MR Manual Drivers Licence (or willingness to obtain) General Construction Safety Induction (White Card) Current First aid and CPR Traffic Control (or willingness to obtain) Certificate to operate Chainsaw and Pole saw (or willingness to obtain) Agriculture Chemical distribution and control (ACDC) (or willingness to obtain) Basic Chain of Responsibility (or willingness to obtain) Desirable Certificate II or III in Horticulture If you enjoy working outdoors, take pride in maintaining public spaces, and have a strong work ethic, we’d love to hear from you!
