Job Description
TSG O&M Profile : This profile is more towards maintaining the system which one provided by the SSM Team. Job Title : Aveva PI Technical Resident Engineer. Relevant Experience (in Yrs) : 2-4 Skills : Technical Skills : - AVEVA PI System Administration - Installation, configuration, and maintenance of AVEVA PI System components (PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework, PI Vision, PI Interfaces, PI Integrators). - Managing PI System security, user authentication, and access control. - Upgrading and patching PI System components. - PI Data Archive & PI Points Management - Creating, managing, and optimizing PI tags (PI Points). - Handling high-frequency data collection and data archiving. - Understanding PI System architecture and data flow. - PI Asset Framework (AF) Development - Configuring and maintaining PI AF Hierarchies, Attributes, and Templates. - Implementing calculations, event frames, and analytics in AF. - PI Interfaces and Connectors - Setting up and troubleshooting PI Interfaces (OPC DA, OPC UA, RDBMS, UFL, Modbus, etc. - Integration with DCS, PLC, SCADA, and IoT platforms. - Ensuring real-time data connectivity and troubleshooting interface-related issues. - PI Vision & PI DataLink Reporting - Developing dashboards, real-time trends, and custom reports using PI Vision. - Using PI DataLink for Excel-based analysis and reporting. - Customizing visualization solutions based on business requirements. - SQL & Data Analysis - Writing SQL queries to retrieve PI data for reporting and analytics. - Working with PI OLEDB Enterprise and PI SQL DAS for external data integration. - Scripting & Automation - Developing scripts in PowerShell, Python, or VBScript for automating PI System tasks. - Configuring PI Notifications for automated alerts and event-driven workflows. - Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting - Monitoring system performance and ensuring data integrity. - Diagnosing system bottlenecks and resolving performance issues. - Debugging PI Interfaces, Connectors, and event processing errors. - Integration with External Systems - Connecting PI System with third-party applications (SAP, ERP, MES, ML platforms). - Working with AVEVA Data Hub (formerly OSIsoft Cloud Services OCS) for cloud-based data solutions. - Networking & IT Infrastructure - Understanding network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, Firewall, VPN). - Working knowledge of Windows Server administration and virtualization. - Managing Active Directory (AD) integration with PI System. Functional Skills : - Industrial Process Understanding - Knowledge of manufacturing, oil & gas, power plants, utilities, pharmaceuticals, and process industries. - Understanding process data, KPIs, and real-time analytics. - Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting - Diagnosing technical issues, applying root cause analysis, and implementing solutions. - Handling critical incidents and providing timely resolutions. - Client & Stakeholder Communication - Collaborating with engineers, operators, and IT teams. - Documenting solutions, creating user manuals, and delivering technical training. - Change Management - Working with IT teams to deploy and upgrade PI Systems with minimal /No downtime. - Managing system changes in accordance with ITIL best practices. - Regulatory Compliance & Security Standards - Ensuring compliance with industry standards like ISA-95, NERC CIP, GDPR, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11. - Implementing cybersecurity best practices for industrial data management. Preferred Certifications : - AVEVA Certified PI System Infrastructure Specialist. - AVEVA PI System Developer Certification. - Microsoft Azure / AWS Cloud Certifications Optional. Experience Required : - 2-4 Years. Roles & Responsibilities : - All activities related to maintenance of the system. - Check and service all equipment and its accessories of supplied items and PI system to maintain them in good working condition. - Install, configure, and maintain AVEVA PI System components (PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework, PI Vision, PI Interfaces, PI Integrators). - Ensure the high availability and reliability of PI System infrastructure. - Perform regular system health checks, performance tuning, and log analysis to prevent failures. - Request for and replacement of spares, equipment and instruments for supplied items. - Manage security policies, user authentication, and role-based access controls in the PI System. - Apply patches, updates, and version upgrades while ensuring minimal downtime. - Create, configure, and optimize PI Points (tags) for efficient data storage and retrieval. - Develop and manage PI Asset Framework (AF) templates, calculations, and event frames. - Configure and troubleshoot PI Interfaces and Connectors (e.g., OPC DA/UA, Modbus, RDBMS, UFL, MQTT). - Integrate PI System with DCS, SCADA, PLC, ERP (SAP), MES, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS). - Ensure data integrity and real-time data acquisition from various industrial control systems. - Design and develop custom dashboards, reports, and trends using PI Vision. - Implement advanced analytics and performance monitoring through PI DataLink. - Creating real-time and historical reports for process analysis and business insights. - Provide technical support and troubleshooting for PI System-related issues. - Analyze system logs, interface errors, and database inconsistencies to resolve performance issues. - Work closely with IT and engineering teams to diagnose and resolve communication failures, data loss, and latency issues. - Document issues, root cause analysis, and resolution steps for future reference. - Develop custom scripts (PowerShell, Python, VBScript) for automation, system monitoring, and data extraction. - Automate backup, archiving, and event handling processes to enhance system performance. - Provide training sessions and workshops for operators, engineers, and IT teams on PI System usage and best practices. - Develop user guides, technical documentation, and SOPs for internal teams. - Assist business users in leveraging PI System. - Ensure the PI System adheres to industry standards and regulations. - Implement cybersecurity best practices for data protection and access control. - Participate in PI System deployment project. - Coordinate with stakeholders for requirement gathering, implementation planning, and testing. - Document configurations, design decisions, and test results for project handover. - Work closely with production, IT, and management teams to align PI System capabilities. - Act as a technical advisor, helping organizations leverage PI System for operational excellence. - Provide recommendations for system enhancements, performance optimization, and scalability.
