Job Overview : The Senior Application Packager will be tasked with designing, building, and maintaining the standard installation routines, management protocols, and monitoring scripts or agents that accompany our applications. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of packaging, scripting, troubleshooting, and client interaction, including mentoring team members. Job Description : - Responsible for packaging applications, which includes creating MSI/MSP/MSM/MST files, performing ICE validation, conducting conflict analysis, and executing unit testing. - Highly skilled in developing installations from the ground up rather than merely repackaging, overseeing the entire process from requirement gathering to delivery. - Collaborate with internal development teams to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on optimal delivery methods for required functionalities. - Design, build, and maintain standardized installation routines, management scripts, and monitoring capabilities bundled with applications. - Provide IT application operations support, including troubleshooting technology issues related to desktop application components. - Implement a cohesive approach to the design, architecture, and implementation of large applications and technology platforms. - Possess a solid understanding of the development life cycle. - Familiarity with key phases such as requirements definition, system design, testing/QA, and transition to production. - Deliver services and respond according to predefined service levels established with customers. - Evaluate client applications/requests and communicate via email, phone, or chat for any necessary clarifications. - Collect error/problem documentation from application testers. - Validate application packages for internal consistency errors utilizing packaging tools and troubleshoot as needed. - Package and test applications remotely. - Conduct quality analysis on applications packaged using MSI technology, ensuring delivery of error-free packages to clients. - Ensure that all packages adhere to client standards. - Develop a packaging process that incorporates industry best practices. - Manage client escalations related to production issues. - Provide training on new tools to junior employees to enhance quality and productivity. Job Requirements : - A minimum of 6 years of IT experience specializing in Application Packaging (Windows Installer) using tools such as Wise Package Studio, InstallShield, PACE, etc. - Expertise in Windows Installer Technology, SCCM, and Windows Application Integration/Maintenance. - Ability to maintain high standards under pressure and meet deadlines while demonstrating a strong commitment to customer service. - Extensive experience in Application Packaging, including familiarity with diagnostic tools such as Regmon, Filemon, Beyond Compare, Picture Taker, Dependency Walker, and InstallRite. - Experience in auto-assessment using compatibility test tools for Windows transformation projects. - Proficient scripting skills in VBS, Wise Script, batch, and PowerShell scripting. Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - At least 6 years of experience in application packaging.
