Power BI Tester - Software Quality Assurance

Job Description : We are seeking an experienced Power BI Tester to ensure the reliability, accuracy, and performance of our business intelligence solutions. The ideal candidate will play a key role in validating data pipelines, verifying Power BI reports and dashboards, and contributing to the overall quality of our analytics ecosystem. Youll collaborate closely with developers, data engineers, and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and ensure data-driven decision-making is based on trustworthy insights. Essential Job Functions : - Design, develop, and execute detailed test plans and test cases for Power BI reports, dashboards, and data pipelines. - Perform end-to-end testing from data ingestion to dashboard visualization. - Cross-verify Power BI report data against data warehouse and source systems. - Validate DAX expressions, measures, and calculated fields for correctness. - Conduct performance benchmarking for reports and dashboards. - Identify and troubleshoot system or report-level bottlenecks. - Log, track, and manage issues in a defect tracking system (e.g., JIRA). - Collaborate with BI developers and data engineers to reproduce, analyze, and resolve issues. - Maintain comprehensive test documentation, including test cases, results, and issue logs. - Ensure traceability of test cases to business and technical requirements. - Provide test status reports and communicate test results to relevant stakeholders. - Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint reviews, retrospectives, and planning meetings. Required Qualifications & Skills : - 7 years of QA/testing experience with a strong emphasis on Power BI testing. - Proficiency in data validation, ETL testing, and BI report testing. - Strong SQL skills to query and validate backend data. - Experience in writing complex DAX expressions and understanding Power BI data models. - Familiarity with source systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake. - Knowledge of BI development lifecycle and agile methodologies. - Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, Confluence, etc. - Hands-on experience with Power BI Service, Power BI Gateway, and workspace management. - Understanding of data governance and security models in Power BI. - Experience with automated BI testing frameworks or tools. - Exposure to CI/CD practices for BI deployments. Education : - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (ref:hirist.tech)
