Mainframe Test Engineer/Quality Assurance Engineer - REXX Programming

Job Description : Mainframe QA/Tester with REXX Programming Job Summary : We are seeking an experienced Mainframe QA/Tester with REXX Programming expertise to support testing, automation, and validation of mainframe-based applications. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in manual and automated testing of IBM z/OS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, and REXX scripting for automation and data validation. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can design test cases, develop test automation solutions using REXX, and work collaboratively in an Agile/Waterfall testing environment. Key Responsibilities : Mainframe Testing & Quality Assurance : - Perform manual and automated testing of mainframe applications, including batch and online processes. - Design and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS applications. - Conduct unit, functional, system integration, regression, performance, and UAT testing. - Validate data integrity across DB2 tables, VSAM files, and flat files using SQL and automation scripts. - Test batch job processing, error handling, and exception management in JCL environments. REXX Scripting & Test Automation : - Develop automation scripts using REXX for mainframe testing, data validation, and batch job execution. - Implement test automation frameworks to optimize test execution and reporting. - Utilize REXX macros to enhance testing efficiency within TSO/ISPF environments. - Automate regression testing for DB2 queries, batch jobs, and online transactions. Defect Management & Collaboration : - Log, track, and resolve defects using JIRA, HP ALM, Quality Center, or similar tools. - Work closely with developers, business analysts, and infrastructure teams to ensure efficient testing cycles. - Provide test reports, metrics, and recommendations for process improvements. - Support Agile and Waterfall methodologies for test planning and execution. Performance & Security Testing : - Conduct load, stress, and performance testing on mainframe applications. - Ensure data security, encryption, and compliance with industry standards. - Optimize REXX scripts for test efficiency and performance tuning. Required Skills & Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - 5 years of experience in Mainframe QA/testing. - Strong hands-on experience with IBM Mainframe, z/OS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS. - Proficiency in REXX scripting for automation, batch processing, and system interactions. - Experience in SQL queries for DB2 validation. - Knowledge of mainframe testing tools like CA InterTest, IBM Rational, Compuware Xpediter, QTP/UFT. - Understanding of defect management tools such as JIRA, HP ALM, or Quality Center. - Experience in testing workflows, batch job dependencies, and mainframe data validation. - Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or DevOps testing methodologies.
