Factory Manager

Job Title: Factory Manager Location: Silverton, Pretoria Industry: Manufacturing Plastics & Steel Moulding Reporting To: Managing Director Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Factory Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of our Plastic Injection Moulding and Steel Moulding production facility in Silverton. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Industrial Engineer or Production Engineer with a strong background in managing high-output manufacturing environments, with particular expertise in plastic injection moulding and steel forming processes . This role requires a hands-on leader with a track record of delivering consistent production output, improving operational efficiency, and driving a culture of continuous improvement and safety. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations of the production facility, ensuring optimal performance of all moulding machines and production lines. Manage a team of production supervisors, technicians, and operators to achieve production targets, quality standards, and on-time delivery. Monitor and analyze production data, identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Maintain and enforce compliance with health & safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards (ISO/TS or equivalent). Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering teams to ensure all machines and tooling are well-maintained and downtime is minimized. Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, and Planning teams to ensure effective scheduling and inventory management. Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma projects. Drive staff training and development to enhance technical skills and promote a high-performance culture. Prepare and manage the factory budget, including forecasting, cost control, and resource planning. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or a BTech Production Engineering , or a related field. Minimum of 510 years experience in a leadership role within a Plastic Injection Moulding and/or Steel Moulding environment. Strong knowledge of moulding processes, machine settings, tooling, and material handling. Proven ability to manage production output and lead large teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Solid understanding of manufacturing best practices, lean methodologies, and quality systems. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in production planning software and ERP systems and on SYSPRO. Must be South African Must live in the area to access the plant when on call Open to all South Africans Attributes: Results-driven with a strategic mindset and hands-on approach.
