Job Description

Technical Assistant/Junior Engineer Philippi, Cape Town R350 000 PA A Plastic manufacturing company is seeking a dynamic individual to provide essential technical and administrative support to our General Manager. If you''re passionate about engineering, process improvement, and enjoy a varied role, this opportunity is for you Main Responsibilities: Technical Support: Assist engineers and maintenance departments with technical research, design, and development. Conduct basic analysis to support production processes and engineering projects. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Identify and solve technical issues in engineering projects. Contribute to the design and development of new products or technologies. Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in engineering processes. Assist in the implementation of new systems to enhance productivity. Maintain detailed records of work processes and outcomes. Administrative Support: Coordinate the GM''s schedule, including meetings and travel arrangements. Draft and manage communications on behalf of the GM. Prepare materials for meetings and take minutes. Organize and maintain engineering records. Project Coordination: Monitor project progress and track tasks. Coordinate resources for projects. Serve as a liaison between teams and stakeholders. Inventory and Resource Management: Monitor and manage inventory of technical supplies and equipment. Order necessary equipment and materials for projects. Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements. Maintain housekeeping standards. Report safety hazards or issues. Quality: Apply quality principles and standards. Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Food Safety System Certification (FSSC): Apply food safety principles and standards. Report any food safety hazards. Comply with GMPs. Self-development and Growth: Identify own strengths and development areas. Take actions to address weaknesses. General: Ensure team awareness and adherence to company principles. Set an example as a role model. Requirements: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field. 2-5 years of relevant experience. Strong understanding of drawings and fault finding. Knowledge of H&S and safe working procedures. Proficiency in administration, problem-solving, and project management. Excellent communication skills. Passion for career progression in Packaging with environmental awareness.
