Job Description

General Manager- Sanitation (Manufacturing Co) Location: Sandton, Johannesburg Salary: R900 000.00 to R1 000 000.00 per annum Purpose: Responsible for monitoring and ensuring proper sanitation throughout the facility. Recommends improvement in manufacturing methods and sanitation practices to management. Develops and implements short-term and mid-term business plans for department and assists in the development of the strategic plan for the plant. You will be reporting to General Manager: Manufacturing or Plant Manager Reportees to this position are : First Line Leaders Team Leaders and assistant team leaders Manufacturing Associates Experience and education required: NQF 07 qualification in Business, Supply Chain Operations, Food Science, Engineering or a related field. 5 years of supervisory experience in a food-processing, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing organization. Working knowledge of FSSC 22000 regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation processes/procedures, and HACCP Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, OSHA standards, product quality (success rates), Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor, and schedule work. Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems. Demonstrated mechanical and spatial aptitude, including disassembling and reassembling equipment. Demonstrated ability to formulate and understand complex mathematical equations. Full knowledge of applicable legislation regulating the food industry in South Africa Experience with the AIB food safety standard is desired but not mandatory. Functional requirements Integrity Proficient in using Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other applications as needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanour. Must be able to handle multiple assignments concurrently, possess excellent organizational and time management skills, and be able to function in a fast-paced environment. Individuals must possess the maturity to deal with matters of a highly confidential nature. Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills to facilitate constant interaction with various personalities and management styles. Also, maintaining focus on assigned tasks despite constant interruptions by telephone and personal contact is an essential component of the position. Will need to be able to work effectively with others, both within the company and outside the company, to accomplish administrative duties. Key Responsibilities Safety Implement and drive near miss reporting to pro-actively eliminate risks. Drive a "Safety Culture" at all times. Drive the implementation of the SHE Strategy and subsequent action plans. Costing Participate in ROCS savings projects as applicable. Manage relevant cost centres to ensure conformance to budget. Food Safety Responsible for reporting any problems with the food safety management system to the QA manager and the GM Manufacturing. Achieve the 6S objectives for the department. Follow all GMPs, food safety, and quality policies. Ensures all GMP and all Food hygiene and Food safety standards are in compliance. Report all food safety incidents such as GMP violations, ingredient and product contamination, metal detector, screen, or magnet deficiencies, glass breakage, and pest harbourage. Ensure compliance in the areas of food defence, food regulations, and product/process quality; provide adequate coaching as needed. Record accurate and legible results on documentation. Provide adequate housekeeping at all times. Develop and control the master sanitation schedule and ensure compliance to the plan. Improve the sanitation SOPs on an ongoing basis to ensure thorough cleaning. Work with production managers and department heads to improve food safety standards of building, equipment, processes and cleaning practises. Inventory Responsible for accurate control of cleaning materials, and cleaning equipment. Line Optimization Effective manpower scheduling to execute sanitation activities within the allotted time on the lines. address other business requirements. Leadership Model the Great Leader Drivers to keep your plant engaged on a daily basis. Attend to associate management which includes recruitment, performance, management, succession planning and training & development. Effective and timely management of associates times & HR processes on Jarrison and Associate Central. Includes shift changes, leave and overtime approval. Liaise with payroll regarding any termination of contracts, overtime, time and attendance and any other payroll related information Coach and support activities of 1st Line Leaders and Team Leaders in order to achieve the business objectives. Foster an environment of high cross function teamwork and collaboration. Manage team discipline by following prescribed processes. Create a motivating and inspiring environment to bring out the best in associates. Define development plans (IDPs) for all direct reports using the Associate Central platform as a tool to drive performance and accountability. Deliver on the annual performance and operating plan and its initiatives. Suggest capital improvements to drive down waste and improve efficiency Labour Strategy Achieve the targets of perfect pay check. Ensure >85% associate engagement levels.
