Position Summary: The Data Measurement & Reporting Advisor will play a senior technical role on a team of 5 to 10 advisors and analysts. The team is responsible for the rapid development, quality review, and completion of 50 to 100 ad hoc reporting requests per week from business operations (claim, provider, call, client, legal, and compliance matrix partners). The output of the reports contains business intelligence including claim details, call details, client level information, etc. The work environment is fast paced and embedded within the business operation, affording the Data Measurement & Reporting Advisor and team to work directly with numerous business owners who serve our customers, clients, and providers. Develops and nurtures strong relationships, based on mutual levels of respect and trust, with operational leaders and front-line staff. The Data Measurement & Reporting Advisor is also responsible for playing a senior technical role on managing and delivering an inventory of 5 to 10 special project requests per month that typically require significantly more effort hours and higher levels of complexity than most ad hoc reporting requests. Automation opportunities exist to convert one-time ad hoc reports into recurring delivery, once the initial ad hoc request is delivered. This role supports day to day inventory management across the team, including helping the Data Measurement & Reporting Manager prioritize and set direction for the team, and acting as a mentor or coach for other team members. The incumbent requires advanced technical skills in SQL, SSIS, SAS, Microsoft Access, and Python to complete complex and / or time sensitive requests. Gathering business requirements, communicating through phone calls, Webex meetings, and written correspondence through Web Messenger and Outlook are essential to successful performance. Job Description & Responsibilities: Develop and deliver ad hoc reports daily, using advanced to intermediate technical skills, to ensure reporting SLAs are met. This includes working with Data Measurement & Reporting Manager and teammates to manage ones own assignments based on capacity, complexity, and business partner escalations. Manage the quality review of ad hoc reporting output, critical to ensure reports are delivered accurately, the first time, as perceived by our requesting matrix partner. For special project requests assigned to the Data Measurement & Reporting Advisor, fully understand the requirements based on review and communication with matrix partners. Leverage this understanding to identify the software, skills, and work effort hours needed to fulfill the request. Work with the Data Measurement & Reporting Manager to plan the development, quality review, and delivery based on a combination of team capacity and matrix partner requested timeline. Work with leadership where capacity constraints exist to propose and successfully influence an acceptable solution. Identify opportunities to create self-service capabilities for our business partners where recurring ad hoc report requests generate repetition for the same or similar data (business intelligence). Protect confidentiality of data by ensuring reports are delivered in the appropriate medium, to the appropriate internal audience. Experience Required: 8-10 years of proven experience and advanced skills in SQL, SSIS, SAS, Tableau, Python, Microsoft Office, and other related software, is required, as Data Measurement & Reporting Advisor will need to utilize these skills directly or guide team members to do so. Experience Desired: Successful history of working with a team in a fast-paced demand and delivery environment is required. Experience working with health insurance operations (claim, call, client, provider) is preferred. Ability to rapidly acquire systems domain and business knowledge, to translate business requirements into whats needed, why, how to query for data needed, and how to visualize the reporting output, is required. Ability to prioritize, negotiate, and communicate deliverable dates, within SLAs, is required. Ability to draw upon subject matter expertise with team members and business customers is required. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills is required. Primary Skills: SQL (Structured Query Language): Ability to utilize functions to create queries, using joins, subqueries, aggregation functions, views, indexing, pivoting, numeric calculations, stored procedures, and other intermediate to advanced techniques. Knows how to diagnose and correct query performance issues. Ability to work across multiple DBMS (Oracle, SQL, etc). with a deep understanding of database design and query optimization techniques. Relevant SQL certificates, training programs, and projects demonstrating SQL proficiency. SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services): Knows how to build ETL (extract, transform, and load) processes in code. Ability to efficiently load, copy, and download large files. Experience with SSIS tasks such as Execute, Data Flow, Send Mail, Custom, etc. Ability to automate recurring reports delivery. SAS programming Basic skills for data access and generation of large size files. Microsoft Access - Ability to diagnose and solve for database performance issues. Python - Develop Python scripts to automate report generation to connect to databases, retrieve the data, create the output, and deliver the report.
