Senior Buyer - Direct Materials

RESPONSIBILITY MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE (STAINLESS STEEL) We seek a suitably qualified individual to ensure that production is adequately supplied with appropriate quality material at optimal cost. The successful candidate will be responsible for:  Ordering raw material via MRP system weekly.  Expediting and following up on orders to arrive on time.  Evaluate appropriate use of alternative suppliers.  Measuring of supplier performance.  Ensure information on the system regarding delivery performance and master data is accurate.  Ensure the appropriate quality product is procured at the lowest cost  Develop existing and new suppliers.  Driving cost saving initiatives. Ordering raw materials (stainless steel) ( Liasing with Suppliers, forecast and demand to suppliers) Inventory controlling ( stock takings, cycle counts) QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE Be in possession of NDip. Logistics or Purchasing or equivalent. At least 5 years working experience within a purchasing and functional logistics in an Manufacturing Industry (steel industry). Knowledge of raw material with complex specifications, including stainless steel and imports. 5 years experience in supervising or managing staff in a purchasing environment. Sound knowledge of ERP Purchasing and Logistics Systems.
