Maintenance Fitter

Requirements: Must have completed a Trade Test or relevant artisan qualification. Qualified Red Seal Artisan . Experienced in welding of stainless steel, mild steel and alloy steel will be advantageous but not essential. Have at least 5 post-qualifying years of experience in a production environment/maintenance environment . Valid driver's license . An ability to interact with employees at different levels. Collaborator with strong focus on integrity, honesty and willingness to assist at different sites within Port Elizabeth as per company requirements. Able to perform duties in line with maintenance program and continuous improvements. Identify and solve problems effectively. Logical, systematic approach with the ability to do minor electronic fault-finding will be advantageous. A passion for the quality of work performed. Good communication skills. A willingness to work overtime when necessary. HACCP and GMP knowledge will be advantageous. Experience within food industry is not essential but will be advantageous. Responsibilities, but not limited to: Conducting and coordinating all maintenance on machinery and equipment in the departments. Completing maintenance checks and programs for each machine as per schedule. Building an inventory of spares for the machines and controlling spares usage and costs. Properly maintaining maintenance records as per requirement. Identification and achievement of measurable technical and process developments and improvements. Attending to breakdowns. Ordering of necessary equipment and tools for the factory when necessary. Attending relevant meetings i.e. Production Meetings, etc where necessary. Assist production in achieving optimum efficiencies. Fault identification, fixing of root cause analysis and ensuring the accurate completion of production logs and job cards. Advising on and implementing technical and cost-effective improvements where appropriate. Ensuring a safe working environment by adhering to safety procedures. Be available for callouts after hours. Ensuring that the maintenance work is performed in terms of agreed expectations, timelines, and company standards. Coach, mentor and train apprentices as may be required.
