As an onsite contributor, you'll play a key role in pioneering a pathway toward a more streamlined and effective healthcare system. JOB SUMMARY Responsible for following referral procedure guidelines, obtaining prior authorization as needed by health plans, processing referrals and scheduling appointments to specialists for patients per provider requests. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prioritize referrals according to level of urgency and communicate referral information to patients during incoming calls and submitting authorized letters to the patient via EPIC MyChart. Urgent referrals are processed within 2 3 business days. Routine referrals should be processed within 5 business days, and Reprocessed referrals should be processed within 7-14 business days with the expectation of completing 25-30 referrals daily Ability to distinguish the difference between a reprocess and initial request by checking history of the referrals or documentation provided on the referral. Reliable home workspace and equipment; stable internet Detail oriented when documenting information regarding a patient’s referral to be easily processed and avoid delay of care Ensure accurate registration, including patient demographic, current insurance information matches in EPIC and Availity. Contact Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and provide ICD-10 diagnosis for patient's illness, Demographic, and specialist information to process a redirected referral. Ensure information concerning patient’s clinical background and referral needs are provided when the PCP is submitting the referral prior to processing. Maintain referrals tracking system on Excel to promote team awareness since referrals are processed by date order from oldest to newest. Follow up on Referrals submitted OON for determination due to continuation of care with the OON Specialist twice weekly for approval or denial of services. Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service and satisfaction for all customers. Communicates with all stakeholders, staff, providers, payers, and patients as appropriate. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Performs other duties as required. Requirements: High School or Technical school education required. Customer Service and Communication skills Proficient: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Epic EMR experience is highly preferred. At least one year of previous experience in this role. Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience. Relevant or any other job-related vocational coursework preferred.
