Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist Discipline: Allied Health Professional Start Date: 12/01/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Description The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, offering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients while providing necessary education upon discharge. Responsibilities Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, aerosol devices, and nebulizers. Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by multiple methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal). Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy. Review patient's chest x-rays for further evaluation. Execute pulmonary function studies and assist with procedures relating to respiratory care. Carry out emergency and non-emergency tracheostomy care, including tube insertion and removal. Perform arterial puncture procedures and record test results. Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines. Maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation on various equipment. Record pertinent treatment information and communicate with medical staff regarding patient responses. Ensure accurate respiratory therapy charging and maintain equipment as needed.
