Job Description

Are you experienced and have a proven track record of working with homeless clients in temporary accommodation settings? Then we are looking for you! Working in a hostel setting you will be actively involved in assisting the Local Authority to discharge it's duty for homeless presentations. Making Placements into various temporary accommodation including the local authorities own stock and spot purchased accommodation. Managing your own client case loads to access all necessary support channels, and proactively seeking out secure move on accommodation for all clients within statutory temporary accommodation. Further duties are contained in the Job Description. Key Duties * To receive initial referrals and obtain all necessary information, to assess, source and arrange appropriate placements and/or suitable accommodation to meet customers needs * To find emergency accommodation for single people/families who are in housing crisis * To provide an out of hours service to assist the Emergency Duty Team with homeless presentations and emergencies. * To provide (out of hours ) support and assistance to customers and accommodation providers for the ABEN/Outreach Team * Provide appropriate support services to customers, including those who may be vulnerable and/or subject to safeguarding, within the council’s temporary accommodation units. * Advising and assisting customers in relation to a variety of issues, such as benefits, housing, living skills, budgeting; including networking with other agencies, providing supporting letters, case updates and assistance with appeals when appropriate. * Assisting customers where possible, to improve life skills; providing a partnership with customers to set up Support Plans including setting targets to reduce debt arrears, setting up bank accounts registering for Housing Services within social housing and private let schemes. Whilst still encouraging the customer to be independent. * Work with partners and customers to ensure delivery and equality of access to services for our customers About You: * Knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to homelessness. * Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, internal and external of the council at all levels both verbally and in writing on housing, community living, benefits, life experiences, child protection/conferences. * Knowledge of the issues relating to safeguarding children & vulnerable adults Hours and Pay £15.92 per hour This post will be shift work, once training is completed working a 5 days on 3 days off, & 4 lates on 4days off rota plus on call duties.
